Atalanta's €25m bid for Lazio Gila sparks Milan, Juventus interest

🇮🇹
SS Lazio have accepted Atalanta's €22 million proposal plus €3 million in bonuses, amounting to a €25 million package, to transfer central defender Mario Gila, whose contract expires in July 2027, after months of stalled negotiations on a new deal with the club. Atalanta moved for Gila to strengthen their defence, offering the €25 million deal that Lazio consider the minimum required for a summer sale. The club also counted on the player's ambition to step up, though Gila remains unconvinced even by the prospect of reuniting with former Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri. Milan have entered the race, with the club contacting Gila's agent and mounting a strong push for his signature, as confirmed by Sky Sport Italia. Their interest reflects a desire to add a young centre‑back with a contract until 2027. Napoli remain favourites for the transfer, but their ability to act depends on generating funds from a player sale, leaving their market somewhat stuck at the moment. Juventus are also monitoring the situation, although their primary target is Jhon Lucumi of Bologna, priced around €28 million. Inter have not ruled out a bid for Gila, yet their focus appears directed elsewhere for now. For Lazio, the accepted €25 million offer secures a substantial fee but leaves the door open for a higher‑profile suitor, while Gila's hesitation suggests he will likely pursue a move to a bigger club if one materialises.
