Bayern Munich faces Magdeburg, Kane will present his Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich-Magdeburg: Bayern Munich approaches the quarter‑final of the German Cup as an absolute favourite, the Wednesday evening match against Magdeburg being seen as a mere formality for the Bavarians. A win would guarantee progression to the semi‑finals and consolidate the club’s domination after having swept everything on the domestic stage last season.

After having swept everything on the domestic stage last season, Bayern Munich meets the German Cup this Wednesday evening with a match within its reach against Magdeburg, a team ranked in the top 5 of the German second division. Kick‑off is scheduled for 20h45.

For the Bavarians, the encounter resembles a mere formality, the opponent’s level being far below their recent standards. The supporters therefore expect an unsurprising victory.

The match, however, has a particular flavour, as Harry Kane is expected to present his Ballon d’Or to the Allianz Arena crowd. The trophy was awarded on Monday evening at a ceremony held in London, where the Bayern forward was crowned world’s best player.

If technical director Vincent Kompany makes a wide rotation, the Briton could still get playing time to polish his statistics this Wednesday evening. This opportunity would allow him to consolidate his offensive influence.

Expected line‑ups

Bayern Munich : Urbig ; Boey, Buchmann, Ito, Laimer ; Daiber, Ndiaye ; Karl, Gnabry, Saibari ; Kane. Magdeburg : Reimann ; Nadjombe, Muller, McNulty, Nollenberger ; Hyrylainen, Chavez, Musel ; Iyoha, Zukowski, Atik.

The clash will be broadcast on La Chaîne L’Équipe and beIN SPORTS MAX 4 from 20h45. Supporters will therefore be able to follow Bayern Munich and Magdeburg live this Wednesday.
