Besiktas revives its quest for the Red Devil with Raskin
In Istanbul, the Turkish club Besiktas has not forgotten the Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin, the Red Devil playing at Glasgow Rangers. After an initial approach at the end of the summer transfer window, the club aims to restart negotiations in January, the player being under contract until summer 2028 and valued at 17 million euros.
A summer without success
During the final days of the summer transfer window, Besiktas tried to lure Nicolas Raskin, but the negotiations ultimately did not result in any transfer. The midfielder, then close to a move, said he had mentally prepared himself, before “turning the page” as soon as the window closed. This first attempt remains a distant memory, but it left the case open.
The Turkish club, where Leandro Trossard has already been playing since this summer, has deliberately kept the case active. According to the Turkish media outlet Fotomaç, Besiktas wants to resume talks both with Raskin’s entourage and with the Rangers. This desire to restart contact shows the club’s ongoing interest in the Belgian player.
Besiktas midfield in transition
Besiktas’s midfield no longer fully satisfies coach Vincenzo Italiano, notably because of Wilfred Ndidi, former KRC Genk player, whose situation could change if an attractive offer emerges in January. The coach is also looking for an additional solution for the defensive midfield role, with Salih Özcan already shouldering many responsibilities.
In this context, Nicolas Raskin is presented as the club’s priority. A transfer, however, is still far from being concluded, with the price demanded by the Rangers and the amount Besiktas is willing to invest remaining decisive. The player remains under contract at Glasgow until mid‑summer 2028, with a market value estimated at 17 million euros.
This season, the Red Devil has already featured in nine matches for the Rangers. He was in the starting lineup against Italy, playing 74 minutes in the 0‑2 victory, and came on as a substitute during the match against France. His regular presence in the national team enhances the attractiveness of his profile for Besiktas.
