Besnik Hasi revives Amedspor and resurrects a Pro League terror in Turkey
After his dismissal from Anderlecht, Besnik Hasi took over the reins at Amedspor in Turkey and, in his third match, led the Turks to a 5‑0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, highlighted by an impressive hat‑trick from Gift Orban in twenty‑five minutes.
A new start in Turkey
Hasi was appointed head coach of Amedspor after his departure from Anderlecht, and the Belgian's start in Turkey is considered promising. He earned a solid 10 out of 15 in local assessments and shows remarkable solidity at home.
Stunning victory against Basaksehir
Amedspor recorded its third consecutive win by beating Istanbul Basaksehir 5‑0. The team led 1‑0 at halftime thanks to an own goal by Emin Bayram, then smashed the opponent with four more goals, including Gift Orban's hat‑trick.
Orban, the former terror of the Pro League
Gift Orban, former striker of La Gantoise, had already recorded the fastest hat‑trick in European competitions against Basaksehir in March 2023. After difficult spells at Lyon, Hoffenheim and Hellas Verona, he rediscovered his form in Turkey, giving Hasi the win against Mohamed Salah's Trabzonspor with a goal in added time, followed by a brace at Kasimpasa before the current hat‑trick.
Amedspor's next challenge will be to host Beşiktaş, future opponent of Union Saint‑Gilloise in the Europa League, which promises another attractive fixture.
Besides Orban, Hasi has revived other former Pro League players: David Bates, Mbaye Diagne – who provided a goal and an assist for Orban off the bench this weekend – and Yira Sor, all signed this summer.
Will the logical continuation continue in the next match? Supporters are already eager to see whether Amedspor's momentum will be maintained against Beşiktaş.
