Black Asteroids bound for Casablanca at FIFAe Continental Championship

In the bustling halls of Casablanca’s Mohammed V Complex, Ghana’s Black Asteroids prepare for the inaugural FIFAe Continental Championship, a historic eFootball Console showdown that pits Africa’s elite national teams against each other. The Ghanaian squad’s qualification marks a milestone for the nation’s esports ambitions.

Consistent performance secures spot

Ghanas Black Asteroids earned their place among Africas eight nations after a demanding FIFAe Nations League campaign that required steady results across several qualifying windows. The team opened the campaign by finishing ninth in Africa during the first qualifying week with 130 Consistency Points, ahead of Nigeria and Seychelles.

Continuing through later stages, the Black Asteroids secured seventh place in the final qualifying phase with 425 Consistency Points, clinching one of the eight African spots alongside hosts Morocco, Madagascar, Tunisia, Senegal, Libya, Kenya and Egypt.

Head coach Emmanuel Lawson said, "Qualification is a reward for the team's hard work, discipline and commitment," and added that the squad now aims to reach the FIFAe World Cup and make history for Ghanaian esports.

Casablanca stage and World Cup pathway

The tournament will run from August 27 to 29, with the eFootball Console competition scheduled for August 28. Casablanca will present a new challenge as the Black Asteroids compete in a single round‑robin league phase.

The top two teams will advance directly to the semi‑finals, while those finishing third to sixth will contest the quarter‑finals. Morocco.The event also forms part of the pathway to the FIFAe World Cup 2026, giving Ghana another chance to reach the global stage.
