Chaos City: Premier League Commission condemns Manchester City

On September 29 the Premier League Independent Commission issued a historic verdict against Manchester City, condemning them for 114 financial violations between 2009 and 2018. United Rooney commented on the idea of stripping titles from Manchester United, stating that he would not feel comfortable accepting them because “we have not earned them”.

Financial fraud conviction

The investigation confirmed the accusation of a system of fictitious revenues and fabricated contracts, designed to circumvent UEFA Financial Fair Play limits and Premier League rules. The Commission also found the club guilty of obstruction during a four‑year investigative process.

Possible sanctions

The proposed sanctions include fines, point deductions and the revocation of titles won in the past, a scenario that could benefit Manchester United. However, the former Red Devils captain, Wayne Rooney, rejected the idea of a title on a technicality for United, arguing that City players fought to win the Premier.

Rooney added that, if Manchester United were to suffer a revocation, he would feel “totally devastated”. His words were reported during an interview with Stick to United.
