Conceicao rejects Fenerbahçe and awaits a proposal from a top‑5 club
The former Milan coach Sergio Conceição, currently without a club after his departure from Al Ittihad, has turned down the offer from Turkish club Fenerbahçe, which was looking for a new manager after the resignation of İsmail Kartal. According to him, the decision is not motivated by financial aspects, but by the desire to wait for a proposal from a top‑5 league team.
Conceição thanked Fenerbahçe but preferred to decline the role, confirming that he is waiting for an opportunity in the major European leagues.
Dirk Kuyt leads Fenerbahçe on an interim basis
Meanwhile, on the bench of the Istanbul club is Dirk Kuyt, former Liverpool and Fenerbahçe striker from 2012 to 2015, who arrived in pre‑season as İsmail Kartal's deputy.
Kuyt, appointed interim manager, will lead Fenerbahçe tomorrow in the Champions League match at 18.45 against Liverpool.
According to the Turkish press, the new permanent manager should be Emre Belözoğlu, former Inter and Fenerbahçe midfielder, who will leave Kasimpasa to return to Şükrü Saracoğlu, where he was already interim in 2021. The Fener club, also known as Fenerbahçe, has already started negotiations.
The signing of Belözoğlu is expected between today and tomorrow.
