Daniel Osvaldo's family: out of danger, remains in intensive care

On Thursday night, emergency services arrived at the municipal hospital of Llavallol, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where Pablo Daniel Osvaldo was admitted to intensive care. The family, interviewed by Clarín, said that the former striker “is fine and lucid” and that he is out of danger.

Clinical condition and intervention

The relatives clarified that the cause of the lung infection that required hospitalization “remains unknown”. The doctors, according to them, “took him in time”. Osvaldo remains in intensive care although he is out of danger.

Osvaldo was rushed to the ward of the municipal hospital of Llavallol on Thursday evening, where he was diagnosed with a right pleural effusion with fluid and pus present. He was immediately taken to surgery to drain the cavity.

His sister and a friend called emergency services after the former player felt ill. During the operation the doctors took some samples for biopsy. The family reassured: “Now he is lucid and not sedated”.

Career and post‑retirement life

Daniel Osvaldo wore the blue shirt fourteen times, scoring four goals. He played for clubs such as Roma, Juventus and Inter. In Serie A he amassed forty‑one goals in one hundred twenty‑four appearances. In the Spanish Liga he netted twenty goals in forty‑three matches. In the Premier League he scored three goals in thirteen games. He won a league title with Juventus.

The former striker lives in Banfield and, since retiring in two‑thousand twenty, has devoted himself mainly to music. He is a singer and guitarist heading the band “Barrio Viejo”. He has performed several shows in his own country.

The family assures that the surgery was timely and that Osvaldo is alert. A diagnosis of the infection is not yet available. The doctors confirmed that they acted in time. Osvaldo remains in intensive care.
