FIFA bans Fenerbahce for three windows – club cites reason

FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on the club Fenerbahce for the next three transfer windows. The club said that the ban is linked to the transfer of Youssef En‑Nesyri and that it wants to resolve the measure.

Outstanding instalment payment to Sevilla

According to the club, an instalment payment to Sevilla is still outstanding. It is to be transferred on Monday to settle the pending amount. Once the sum is paid, Fenerbahce wants to create the conditions for the ban to be lifted.

FIFA had already previously banned the club for three transfer periods. No further violations were mentioned in the statement. Thus, the current ban remains the second imposition within a short time.

As Fenerbahce announced, the ban is linked to the transfer of Youssef En‑Nesyri. The striker moved in 2024 from FC Sevilla to Istanbul for nineteen point five million euros. The outstanding instalment from that deal continues to burden the club.

Sportingly, the club invested heavily in the last transfer period. Mason Greenwood arrived at Fenerbahce from Olympique Marseille for around forty million euros, Vedat Muriqi for fifteen million euros from RCD Mallorca. Overall, Fenerbahce closed the window with a deficit of roughly seventy million euros.

En‑Nesyri no longer plays for Fenerbahce and is under contract with Al Ittihad. Nevertheless, the still‑outstanding payment from his former transfer occupies the club.

The juxtaposition of a harsh FIFA sanction and the financial burdens highlights that Fenerbahce faces major challenges both on the sporting and administrative fronts.
