Florian Thauvin lights up RC Lens, Zidane could respond

Florian Thauvin, captain of RC Lens, is enjoying an exceptional start to the season with four goals and eight assists in eight matches, while RMC pundit Christophe Dugarry, close to Zinedine Zidane, already sees his return to the French national team as a certainty.
At thirty‑three years old, the former Marseille player is establishing himself as one of the key figures in Ligue 1. His influence is reflected both in his statistics and in his role as leader of the Blood and Gold, where he carries the club's ambitions.
Christophe Dugarry's support
On RMC's airwaves, Christophe Dugarry did not hide his admiration for the Lens player's start to the season. “He has performances that make you think even more than others perhaps. Honestly, I wish him to earn even more caps,” he said.
Dugarry then hinted that Zinedine Zidane could reward Thauvin, recalling that the manager had recently praised a young boy named Lepaul. “It smells good anyway, even though I have no info,” he added, noting that he has no privileged information.
The competition within the French squad
The striker position in the French national team remains highly contested, with Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Rayan Cherki and Maghnes Akliouche in the running. Zidane, however, appears to favor current form and an impeccable mindset, criteria that Thauvin embodies according to Dugarry.
The next gathering, which will include two Nations League matches against Italy and Turkey, could give Thauvin another chance to wear the blue shirt. His experience and versatility are often cited as assets against the competition.
This contrast between a dazzling club performance and the prospect of a national team call‑up shows that RC Lens's success could well force the manager's hand. If Thauvin's form continues, Zinedine Zidane will have little reason to ignore him any longer.
