France advances towards Euro 2027 but loses Mbappé injured

Four days after the 1-1 draw in Iceland, the French under‑21 team beat Estonia 2-0 on Tuesday, moving closer to Euro 2027. Despite the win, the Bleuets saw Ethan Mbappé leave the field injured as early as the 12th minute, followed by Senny Mayulu in the 42nd minute.

Steve Ngoura opened the scoring in the 24th minute by converting a penalty after a fine build‑up, bringing the match to 1-1. Four minutes later, Sander Tovstik was sent off for an elbow and punch on Ismaëlo Ganiou, leaving Estonia with ten men.

With the numerical advantage, France multiplied its shots, totalling 38 attempts and 21 corners, but only found the second goal thanks to Jean‑Matteo Bahoya in the 68th minute, with a low‑driven strike from outside the box.

With 20 points from eight games (six wins, two draws), the Bleuets sit top of their group, ahead of Switzerland, while still having one match left to play.
