Galatasaray forces out‑of‑form Leroy Sane into a clarifying talk
Out‑of‑form Leroy Sane is under growing pressure at Galatasaray because he had no goal involvement in the first seven league matches of the season. As Fanatik reports, the club hierarchy, together with head coach Okan Buruk, is planning a clarifying conversation to address the current loss of form.
Clarifying Conversation Ahead of Key Matches
According to the Turkish sports newspaper, the meeting is to take place before the upcoming fixtures in the Süper Lig against Kasimpasa and in the Champions League against FC Barcelona. The club leadership hopes that the conversation will identify the causes of the loss of form and is demanding a rapid performance boost from its high‑earner.
Internally, the two matches are already seen as decisive tests for Sane. A positive result could restore the confidence of the fans and the management, while another weak performance is likely to further fuel criticism.
Loss of Form and Internal Tensions
In his first seven league appearances of the current season, the 30‑year‑old winger remained without a single goal involvement. As early as September, the newspaper Sabah reported clear discontent, as Sane was unhappy with his playing time and even contemplated an early departure.
Internally, his patience is said to have snapped because of his role as a supplementary player. Sane made it clear at the time that he does not see himself as a reserve for short stints and that this situation does not meet his standards.
The start to the new season was disappointing: on the opening matchday against newly promoted Corum FK he was still in the starting eleven and played 89 minutes, but after the team's overall weak performance coach Buruk took action. In the subsequent league games Sane found himself on the bench again and was only brought on in the 66th and 73rd minutes against Erzurumspor and Göztepe respectively.
Sane moved in the summer of 2025 from FC Bayern Munich to Galatasaray. In his debut season he scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 43 league matches, and his contract runs until 2028.
The upcoming duels against Kasimpasa and Barcelona will show whether the clarifying conversation triggers the expected performance boost or further deepens the loss of form, thereby determining the future of the 80‑time German international with the Yellow‑Reds.
