Galatasaray sign Leão on four‑year contract, Milan retain 20 percent sell‑on future fee

In Istanbul, Portuguese winger Rafael Leão signed for Galatasaray on Sunday, completing a €38 million ($44 million) transfer from AC Milan that binds him to the Turkish club for four years. The deal also includes a €10 million net annual salary and a clause granting Milan 20 percent of any future resale profit.

Four‑year deal and salary

The contract runs until 2028 and guarantees Leão a net wage of €10 million ($11.6 million) each season. Galatasaray announced the agreement on its official channels, confirming the length and financial terms. Rafael’s move was confirmed by AP on the same day.

Leão’s pedigree and recent form

Leão, 27, was the Serie A MVP when he helped AC Milan win the league in the 2021‑22 season. Since then, his career has been hampered by injuries and inconsistent performances. Despite those setbacks, he featured for Portugal at the World Cup, providing the assist for Gonçalo Ramos’s decisive header against Croatia.

Galatasaray also disclosed that 20 percent of any future sale profit will be paid to AC Milan, as detailed in the club’s statement.

“Futbol Rafael Leão completa traspaso de 44 millones de dólares a Galatasaray,” read a source snippet, which was later marked as “Añadir como fuente preferida en Google”.

The signing gives Galatasaray a former Serie A MVP, adding experience to a squad aiming for success in Turquía.
