Haaland's entourage calls Barça as City faces sanctions
Erling Haaland's representatives have contacted FC Barcelona to explore a possible transfer that would take him away from Manchester City, five weeks after the striker announced his intention to leave the English club on September 13.
Interest from the striker's camp
The move does not come from a scouting club, but from Haaland's own camp, which has knocked on Barça's door. The Norwegian is attracted by the idea of playing in LaLiga and sees Barcelona as a viable option for the next step of his career.
Contractual and financial situation
Haaland signed in January 2025 a renewal with Manchester City that ties him until 2034, so any exit requires the involvement of the English club. Meanwhile, City has been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League for financial infringements, and the final sanction is still pending.
Other potential destinations
Paris Saint‑Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also feature among the Norwegian's options if he decides to leave the Etihad. Madrid's presence has gained relevance, as in mid‑September his camp ruled out the club, but now the Santiago Bernabéu places it at the top of his list.
Bayern are studying Haaland as a possible successor to Harry Kane, while PSG maintains its interest in the striker.
Next steps
Barcelona will have to decide whether to turn Haaland's camp's call into a formal proposal. The next step will depend on Manchester City's response to the initiative and on whether any of the four clubs present a concrete offer before the Norwegian's contract, running until 2034, becomes a bigger obstacle.
