Reijnders and Malen start as Netherlands begin World Cup against Japan

🇳🇱
Tijjani Reijnders and Donyell Malen are expected to start for the Netherlands in their first World Cup match against Japan on 14 June. Ronald Koeman has opted against Justin Kluivert and Memphis Depay, who remain unfit after injury struggles. Reijnders has featured prominently in pre-tournament preparations, while Malen scored in the final warm-up against Canada. Depay has not played since May due to a calf issue, with Kluivert also recovering from physical setbacks. The Netherlands face Japan at 14:00 local time in Group E’s opening fixture. Koeman’s selections reflect fitness concerns ahead of a crucial tournament opener.
