Hull City puts €35 million on the table for Malick Fofana

The English promoted side Hull City has, according to Foot Mercato, made an ultra‑ambitious bid of €35 million for the 21‑year‑old striker Malick Fofana of Olympique Lyon. The Tigers hope to match top clubs and have already held a video call with the Belgian to explain their sporting project.

Lyon under pressure after Champions League‑exit

Olympique Lyon must urgently sell players after being knocked out in the Champions League qualifiers, according to sources from France. The creative attacker Malick Fofana is mentioned as one of the most coveted profiles in the squad. Technical director Matthieu Louis‑Jean has previously indicated that a departure is possible, while AS Roma also shows concrete interest. The Italian club is said by Foot Mercato to have already reached a personal agreement with the Belgian.

Louis‑Jean later told Canal+ that it is ‘possible’ that Fofana stays at Lyon, because the club has a plan and is not distracted by the price. He emphasized that OL is under pressure to sell players for around fifty million euros after missing out on a Champions League spot. ‘It is not a matter of price, but of options for us,’ he said. The club has four days to correct its situation.

Fofana joined Olympique Lyon one and a half years ago and quickly established himself as a regular left‑wing player. He missed a large part of the 2025‑26 season due to a serious ankle injury in October, but has shown excellent form since the start of the 2026‑27 season. He is regarded by the club as the most valuable player of OL, also known as Les Rouge et Bleu.

Hull City puts project into practice

Hull City were promoted this season to the Premier League and started with a surprising 2‑0 win over Manchester United. The Tigers want to match top clubs with their new project and have already held a video call with Malick Fofana to explain their plans.

With a bid of €35 million the club has made clear that they are serious. Hull City now awaits a response from the 21‑year‑old striker to determine whether he accepts the sporting project.
