Ilias Akhomach leaves Rayo for Villarreal

Moroccan international Ilias Akhomach has ended his loan spell at Rayo Vallecano and returned to Villarreal. He said he departs "with pride" after a short but memorable stint.

The 22‑year‑old arrived at the Madrid club in January to seek regular minutes. He featured in 16 league matches, netting one goal and providing three assists.

Akhomach contributed to Rayo's run to the historic UEFA Europa Conference League final. The final will be contested against Crystal Palace.

Back at Villarreal, Akhomach will aim to translate his experience into a larger role. The club will integrate him ahead of the upcoming season.
