Individual training reveals looming transfer battle for Genk's winger

🇧🇪

Twenty‑year‑old winger Noah Adedeji‑Sternberg is training alone after reaching a personal agreement with Club Brugge, while KRC Genk has begun its pre‑season preparations on Monday. The split training reflects a pending transfer that could see the Belgian‑German forward leave the Fenixstadion.

Genk started its new‑season training on Monday, but Adedeji‑Sternberg has been excluded from the group sessions. The 20‑year‑old winger is therefore working on his own to maintain fitness.

Three other Genk players—goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge, forward Ken Nkuba and midfielder Mujaid Sadick—are also absent from the training pitch. Their departures suggest their contracts with the club are nearing an end.

Adedeji‑Sternberg has already secured a personal deal with Club Brugge, signalling his intention to join the league champions. However, the two clubs have yet to finalize the transfer.

Club Brugge has reached out to Genk, but according to reports the negotiations have not yet gained momentum. This contrasts with the situation of the other three players, whose paths appear closed.

If Genk fails to reach an agreement with the champions, Adedeji‑Sternberg will be allowed back into the group training sessions. For now, his individual workouts continue.

The episode underscores the fluid nature of the Belgian transfer market, where clubs frequently juggle player exits and arrivals ahead of the campaign. Such individual training arrangements are becoming common as clubs negotiate fees and contracts.
