Íñigo Pérez takes blame for Villarreal's defeat to PSG

At the La Cerámica stadium, under the watchful eye of the camera, Íñigo Pérez was giving instructions to his players as Villarreal fell defeated to PSG; the coach offered no excuses and took responsibility for what happened in the match.

There is a great amount of pain over this defeat; I take responsibility for what has happened and we will see if we are able to reverse the feeling of bitterness we have now, the coach explained.

He admitted there were conceptual and mental errors, that the biggest mistakes were his as a coach, and he stated that when a loss occurs in this way there is no other option but to point to the manager.

Luis Enrique told Íñigo to stay encouraged and move forward, adding that everyone has had matches like that.

According to the EFE agency, journalist Pepe Gil-Vernet Moleiro commented that nothing has emerged after the match.

Pepe Gil-Vernet assured that the locker‑room talks will be kept secret, praised Macià, who has just turned 18 and played against Vitinha, considered the best midfielder, and argued that the lack was not of aggression but of incapacity and of the poor tactical approach that affected the players individually.

He reiterated that losing as today shows that the coach did not set up the match properly, beyond his ideals or beliefs.

He concluded by saying that perhaps tomorrow he would re‑plan the same match correcting nuances, that it is time to accept the pain and not think much further.
