Italy hopes after Tresoldi's San‑Siro triumph for the national team
The German U21‑national striker Nicolò Tresoldi celebrated a dream evening in Milan, while at the same time the question of his future national team selection occupied the experts. On the pitch of the San Siro he scored three goals for Inter Milan against Club Brugge and was declared the match‑winner. At the same time Italy and Germany are in a 50:50 dilemma about which shirt he will wear in the future.
An evening that tempts the national teams of both countries
Reuters reported that Tresoldi grabbed the ball after his goal‑fest and sent the crowd in the Italian stadium into ecstasy. They titled the appearance with “Tresoldi, what a night” and emphasized that Italy, the father’s country, is now vying for the young striker. The young man himself said that as a Milan fan he felt the match like a small derby and had received numerous messages from Milan fans before the match.
National team coach Jürgen Klopp and Italy’s national coach Roberto Mancini have already expressed their interest. Tresoldi, however, stresses that he wants to finish his commitments with the German U21‑team before the European Championship next summer, before making a final decision. Both national teams could benefit from such a goal‑getter, as they have recently been going through weak phases.
