João Pedro left out of Brazil squad after a full match

The Chelsea striker João Pedro has been ruled out by the Brazilian Federation for the next Seleçao gathering, even though the player played the full match for the Blues against Hull City on Saturday, where he scored a goal and provided an assist.

Controversy over the non‑call‑up

The case of João Pedro was one of many thorns in Carlo Ancelotti's side during the last World Cup, the Italian manager having chosen not to call him up, preferring Neymar. This decision sparked strong criticism given the player's impressive season in Chelsea colours last season.

It remains difficult to determine whether the Brazilian deliberately refused to honour the call‑up by citing a fake injury. So far, no information supports this hypothesis.

Brazil will travel to Australia for two matches on September 25 and 29, before heading to Calcutta on October 3 to face India.

Don Carlo hasn't made many friends in the football world, as highlighted by the ironic tone of some observers.
