John Textor demands two million euros from RWDM via legal proceedings
In a noisy courtroom in Brussels, John Textor, the American football billionaire, is ready to drag his former club RWDM before the court. He demands two million euros back that he says are still outstanding, and pushes for full access to the club’s accounts.
Loan and repayment claim
The American businessman claims to still be owed two million euros by the Belgian club. According to BRUZZ, it concerns an emergency loan that Wyndcrest Holdings, Textor’s company, provided to RWDM in May. The club used the money, among other things, to pay bills and salaries, while future transfer income was set as collateral for the repayment.
Financial problems of RWDM
RWDM was already in serious financial trouble at that time and has not yet carried out the repayment. Because the repayment is pending, Textor now demands access to the accounts. Textor’s lawyer states that his client has not yet received any money and lacks sufficient clarity about the transfer income and the club’s financial recovery plan.
Role of Zakaria El Ouahdi
An additional factor is former RWDM player Zakaria El Ouahdi, who last summer was linked to PSV and recently moved from KRC Genk to Hamburger SV. RWDM might be entitled to a percentage of that transfer fee, and Textor wants to know what happens to such income.
Legal procedure and objectives
Wyndcrest has therefore initiated a procedure at the French‑speaking commercial court in Brussels. The holding initially demands transparency and access to RWDM’s accounts. According to the lawyer, the intention is not to put the club in further trouble, but Textor wants to prevent ending up empty‑handed.
Background of Textor’s football empire
John Textor built an international football empire over recent years through Eagle Football. In addition to RWDM, the American invested, among others, in Brazilian side Botafogo and Olympique Lyon. He also held a large stake in Premier League club Crystal Palace for many years, but he sold that share package in 2025.
Current situation of RWDM
RWDM has been struggling with major financial problems for some time and is currently undergoing a judicial reorganisation. The club came into the hands of Thierry Dailly on 1 August and is playing this season in the First Division B, after it did not receive a professional licence.
