Juventus secures Kamil Grabara as backup, loan includes €11.5m option

Kamil Grabara, the 27‑year‑old Polish goalkeeper, leaves VfL Wolfsburg for Juventus Turin on a season‑long loan, acting as back‑up for Guglielmo Vicario. The deal includes a €700,000 loan fee that can rise to €1 million with bonuses and a purchase option worth €11.5 million, matching his €12 million market value.

Loan terms and market value

The loan fee of €700,000 is payable up front, with performance‑related bonuses that could increase the total outlay to €1 million. Juventus retain the right to make the move permanent for €11.5 million, a figure that aligns with Grabara’s current market valuation of €12 million. The arrangement gives the Italian side a cost‑effective solution between the posts.

Wolfsburg originally signed Grabara two years ago from FC Copenhagen for €13.5 million. During his spell in the Bundesliga, he featured in 69 matches and kept twelve clean sheets, establishing himself as a reliable option before the club’s recent relegation.

Juventus goalkeeping reshuffle

At Juventus, Grabara will sit behind newly‑arrived first‑choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario, who displaced Michele Di Gregorio after the latter’s €14.3 million permanent transfer last year. Di Gregorio has moved on loan to AFC Bournemouth with an option to buy, while veteran Mattia Perin is set to join Palermo.

Carlo Pinsoglio remains in the Juventus squad as an experienced back‑up, completing a significant overhaul of the club’s goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

Wolfsburg’s transfer income now stands at €64.75 million, ranking sixth among German clubs, while its expenditures total €27.7 million. The club could still boost receipts before the deadline, notably through a potential sale of striker Mohamed Amoura, whose market value is €20 million.

Grabara is scheduled to join Juventus this summer, providing depth to the squad as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
