Juventus win again in Europa League after late comeback against Celta

Juventus booked a victory on Thursday evening at the last minute in the Europa League, after substitute Randal Kolo Muani scored the winning goal in injury time against Celta de Vigo. The win restored the provisional top spot for the Italian club in the group stage.

Long stalemate broken in the second half

The match started with a draw; Celta opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute via Hugo Álvarez and kept the lead at bay. In the second half Juventus came back, with a long ball from Teun Koopmeiners that, via Marcos Alonso, reached the German striker and brought the score to 1-1.

Late twist by Kolo Muani

Despite several chances for Juventus, including shots from Francisco Conceição that were blocked by goalkeeper Ionut Radu, Kolo Muani found the ball in injury time and headed the winning strike home. With this he secured Juventus a 2-1 victory and the top of the group.

Previous results

Last month Celta lost the first Europa League tie of the season 1-0 to Omonia Nicosia. Juventus started the campaign strongly with a 5-0 win over NEC, in which Teun Koopmeiners, Pape Matar Sarr and Francisco Conceição played from the first minute.

Teun Koopmeiners, who had a different role in the match against NEC, started this time and formed the central midfield alongside Pape Matar Sarr. Together with newcomer Francisco Conceição he provided the creativity that ultimately led to the winning goal.
