Klopp defends his Germany after the defeat against Greece

Jürgen Klopp responded to criticism after Germany's defeat to Greece at the WWK Arena in Augsburg, after having drawn 1‑1 with the Netherlands under the direction of Xavi Hernández. The match against Greece, reported by the EFE agency and journalist Marc Canosa, marked the difficult start for the new manager.

The first poor results

Recent results, especially the defeat against the Greek national team, have generated the first detractors of the German side and the new coach. The 1‑1 draw against the Netherlands and the loss in Augsburg fed the pressure on the "Mannschaft".

A contrasting voice, former Bayern player Bastian Schweinsteiger, harshly criticised the "Mannschaft" after the setback against Greece. His comments added to those the squad was already receiving after the failure.

Klopp, however, came to the defence of his players and the project of a new Germany. He said on SkyDE microphones: “I’m not going to come here and simply say: we are a bad team. We are not. If you want to criticise someone, criticise me. Let the new players develop.”
