Unai Simón unused as Spain beat Iraq 3-1 in Riazor

🇪🇸
Unai Simón remained on the bench for Spain’s 3-1 win over Iraq in Thursday’s friendly at Riazor. Luis de la Fuente started with Joan Garcia in goal. De la Fuente later introduced Leo Román in the closing minutes. Román, part of the Las Rozas support squad, was not among the 26 players named for the World Cup opening on Thursday. Spain controlled the match at Estadio Riazor, dominating possession and creating early chances. Goals from Aritz Elustondo, Oihan Sancet, and Ferran Torres secured the victory. Leo Román, who trained with the squad in Las Rozas, earned his first senior call-up this week. His late cameo followed limited minutes in training. The World Cup squad, announced on June 5, includes 26 players ahead of the tournament opener against Canada. No further goalkeeping changes were made after the substitutions. Spain’s next step is the World Cup opener on June 20 against Canada at Riazor.
