LaLiga takes the assault on Camavinga at Camp Nou to court

LaLiga announced this Monday that it will file a complaint with the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation after the assault on Eduardo Camavinga at the Camp Nou, while minutes earlier Kylian Mbappé had sealed Real Madrid's victory with an empty‑net goal.

Celebration of Mbappé's goal

In the 88th minute, Mbappé scored the winning goal for Real Madrid (1‑2) into an empty net after a great individual effort by Camavinga. The strike confirmed the white team's triumph over Barcelona.

When the play ended, several Real Madrid players approached to hug the French midfielder and moved as a group towards one of the ends of the pitch. At that moment, Barcelona fans threw objects and a few managed to hit Camavinga with the flagpoles of their banners.

Camavinga's teammates quickly moved him away from the area closest to the stands to protect him. The reaction was intended to prevent the incident from escalating.

LaLiga said it learned of the events through several videos posted online that showed the assault. The organization confirmed that the visual material was the basis for its decision.

Therefore, LaLiga will report the incident to the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The measure aims for the body to sanction those responsible.

The contrast between the euphoria of the goal and the violence in the stands highlights the vulnerability of players even in moments of triumph. LaLiga insists that safety must be a priority in all stadiums.
