Leeds United chase Japan's Zion Suzuki despite €30‑40m price tag

🇬🇧
Leeds United are moving to sign 23‑year‑old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma, with the Italian side demanding a transfer fee of €30‑40 million. The player, who is contracted with Parma until June 2029, would be offered a new deal running to 2031 if the move materialises. Leeds have placed Suzuki high on their shortlist and are preparing an official bid to bring him to Elland Road. The club sees the goalkeeper as a long‑term solution, reflected by the proposed contract length to 2031. Suzuki previously featured in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League with Sint‑Truiden before joining Parma. In his two seasons in Serie A he amassed 57 appearances and kept 12 clean sheets. Aston Villa have also expressed interest in the Japanese international, adding competition for Leeds’ pursuit. Suzuki’s performances at the World Cup have heightened his profile across Premier League clubs. At the tournament, Suzuki started all three group matches for Japan and now prepares for a knockout clash against Brazil. His World Cup exposure underscores his readiness for top‑level competition. If Leeds secure Suzuki, they will gain a young, World Cup‑tested goalkeeper on a long‑term deal. Parma, meanwhile, would receive a sizeable fee while freeing up a contract that runs to 2029.
