Liverpool chase 87‑goal Egyptian Omar Marmoush to fill right‑wing void
Liverpool are hunting a fresh right‑wing option after Mohamed Salah’s departure left a void, with the Yan Diomande deal collapsed and Federico Chiesa’s future uncertain, while Jeremie Frimpong has not impressed, prompting the Anfield club to target a versatile attacker who can also play centrally.
Victor Munoz has already been signed by Liverpool, and Federico Chiesa and Jeremie Frimpong remain on the club’s books for now, although Chiesa’s departure looms and Frimpong has not been rated among the best performers.
The club’s scouting list now lists Omar Marmoush, a 27‑year‑old Egyptian who can operate as a striker or a right‑winger, as a prime candidate to replace Salah’s output.
Marmoush is still contracted to Manchester City, a club that recently listed him on the transfer market, and Liverpool had been in contention for his signature before he opted for City.
Across his career Marmoush has amassed 87 goals, highlighted by a 28‑goal haul in the 2024‑25 season – 20 of those at Eintracht Frankfurt and eight after his move to Manchester City, while also providing 27 assists and contributing 11 goals in all competitions last season.
Manchester City, now seeking a backup striker for Erling Haaland, may be willing to entertain offers, yet the rivalry between the two title‑contending clubs inflates his valuation.
journalist Lyall Thomas noted, “All the focus has been on getting Elliot Anderson, which they now have. Let’s see what they do next; RB, CM, deputy ST, another forward all on agenda,” underscoring Liverpool’s broader recruitment priorities.
Negotiating a deal for Marmoush would therefore be costly and complex, with Liverpool needing to balance the price against the strategic need for a fast, versatile attacker who can slot into Andoni Iraola’s plans this term.
