Lorient shore up defence with ex‑PSG right‑back Alec Georgen
FC Lorient have signed 27‑year‑old former Paris Saint‑Germain defender Alec Georgen to add depth at right‑back after securing a comfortable mid‑table Ligue 1 finish last season, the club announced on Tuesday. Georgen, who made 74 Ligue 2 appearances for USL Dunkerque, including 34 last season, signs a three‑year deal and will wear No.2.
Georgen came through the ranks at Paris Saint‑Germain and made just one appearance for the first team before moving to Avranches in 2019. His early senior career therefore began with a brief stint at Avranches after leaving PSG.
He subsequently spent time at AJ Auxerre and Concarneau before joining USL Dunkerque on a free transfer in 2024. The move to Dunkerque marked his return to Ligue 2 competition.
During his spell at USL Dunkerque, Georgen accumulated 74 appearances for the Ligue 2 side, 34 of which came last season. His contract expired at the end of the season and he opted against renewing with the club.
Lorient, under manager Olivier Pantaloni, secured a comfortable mid‑table finish in Ligue 1 last season and will look to strengthen their defensive options. Georgen therefore joins Les Merlus, the nickname of FC Lorient, as part of their squad rebuilding.
The signing was reported by Luke Entwistle.
