Man City under fire from critics, but Maresca sees the positive
Manchester City is going through a particularly turbulent period, found guilty of 114 of the 115 financial breaches it is accused of concerning the Premier League rules between 2009 and 2018, and facing a lot of criticism. In this context, the Citizens' manager, Enzo Maresca, nevertheless prefers to focus on an encouraging aspect.
A coach who bets on solidarity
During Friday's press conference, the Sky Blues' manager highlighted the growing solidarity among the players, the board and the supporters, despite external pressure. “I notice that, given the media hype we are seeing, the supporters, the club and the team are undoubtedly more united,” he said.
Maresca, aware of the magnitude of the accusations against City, calls for caution before drawing definitive conclusions. “It doesn’t bother me that people are forming an opinion on the situation but, from my point of view, the wisest way to judge the situation is always to wait for the final verdict,” he added, recalling his past at Chelsea.
Critics continue to fuel the debate around the English vice-champions, but the Italian coach believes that the past weeks have strengthened the bonds between the different components of the club.
