Manchester United secures midfield future with Anderson's pro deal

🇬🇧

Manchester United have moved to lock down promising midfielder Jess Anderson on a full‑time professional basis, addressing the need for deeper midfield options after her two senior appearances last season. The 18‑year‑old, who captained the club’s Under‑21 side, will now be part of the senior squad as the Red Devils look to build continuity.

Manchester United announced the signing on the club’s official website on Thursday afternoon. The 18‑year‑old has agreed a contract that runs until the summer of 2028, with the option to extend for an additional year.

Anderson captained Manchester United’s Under‑21 side before breaking into senior football last season. She featured twice for the Red Devils, both appearances coming off the bench.

Speaking after the announcement, Anderson expressed her gratitude. “Signing my first professional contract with Manchester United is a huge honour. It has been an incredible journey so far, and I could not be more grateful to my family and all of the coaches in the Academy for supporting me throughout my development.”

Anderson joins fellow academy graduates Layla Drury and Scarlett Hill, who also signed professional terms with Manchester United. Their promotions underline the club’s commitment to integrating youth talent into the first‑team setup.

The midfielder said she views the deal as a milestone but remains focused on learning in the club’s environment. United will now monitor her progress as she competes for regular senior minutes.
