“It’s not an issue that concerns me,” said the Italian coach. He added that the subject has already been debated for four or five years and that “Manchester City has not been found guilty” of the double contract. “It’s their problem, not mine,” he concluded.

Roberto Mancini was the Sky Blues’ manager between 2009 and 2013 before taking over the Italian Nazionale. His stint at Manchester City was never formalised, which places him outside any responsibility for the financial matters.

The contrast between Manchester City’s official condemnation and the coach’s apparent indifference shows that the club’s legal affairs are not among Mancini’s sporting priorities. He suggests that, for him, the financial matters remain outside his sphere of intervention.
