Millwall's pursuit of versatile Mathis Servais intensifies
Millwall have entered negotiations with Belgian side KV Mechelen for 21‑year‑old midfielder Mathis Servais, a former Belgium youth international who impressed in his debut season in the Belgian top flight. The English Championship club see his versatility as a key asset for both central and wide roles.
Servais arrived at KV Mechelen from SK Beveren last summer, having spent four seasons with the second‑tier club. The former Club Brugge youth product made an immediate impact in the Belgian top division.
During the 2024/2025 campaign at SK Beveren, Servais recorded eight goals and eight assists across 33 appearances, marking a breakout season. His performances attracted attention from higher‑level teams.
KV Mechelen secured his services to bolster their midfield after captain Rob Schoofs departed for Union St Gilloise. The club expected Servais to fill the creative void left by Schoofs.
In his first season with KV Mechelen, Servais featured in 34 league matches, netting two goals and providing four assists. His contributions helped the team navigate the challenges of the Belgian Pro League.
Millwall view Servais as a versatile option capable of operating centrally, on the flanks, or in a more advanced midfield role. The English side believes his adaptability aligns with their tactical needs.
Ben Jackson reported the ongoing talks between the clubs. He noted that Millwall’s interest grew after observing Servais throughout the season.
