Mourinho rejects Endrick's loan after his goal in Rome
Endrick scored Real Madrid's equaliser in the comeback against Roma, and José Mourinho explained that he rejected the Italian club's request to loan the Brazilian striker during the summer.
Reason for rejecting the loan
According to the newspaper AS, Mourinho based his decision on the confidence he has in the 20‑year‑old's ability, stating that the loan was "impossible" because he knows the player's potential. The coach recalled that, in August, he had already declared that the team's number nine would not leave Valdebebas.
Impact of the goal in Rome
The Brazilian came on when the team was trailing and, after a header that levelled the score at 3‑3, Antonio Rüdiger sealed the 4‑3 victory. That goal, which came in the final minutes of the match at the Stadio Olimpico, marked a notable improvement compared with the mere four minutes Endrick had played against Elche before the trip to Italy.
Future prospects
Mourinho sees Endrick more as a right winger than as a centre‑forward, and he has selected Carlos Espí among three options presented by Juni Calafat, considering that both can play together. Endrick himself said he trusts Mourinho's decision: "If I have to play, Mou will put me in; if not, he won't." Despite the player's openness to a possible move in January, the coach maintains that a loan is not necessary. The performance in Rome, described by AS as a "breakthrough", will be the test for the Brazilian to earn more regular minutes in the upcoming matches.
