Musah reveals truth about Amorim; confidence changes his role at Milan
Yunus Musah, Milan midfielder, has returned to wearing the United States shirt and spoke at a press conference on the eve of the match against Canada, explaining how Ruben Amorim repositioned him in the midfield of the red‑and‑black project and reaffirmed his confidence in the player.
The initial doubt about Amorim
Musah admitted that he thought Amorim had called him BEFORE the training camp only to keep him at the club. "I thought he called me BEFORE the camp just to keep me at the club, like other coaches do," he said, adding that during the camp he saw himself playing a lot and that the coach's words were sincere.
During the pre‑season training camp, Musah noted that he was frequently put on the pitch. "But then, during the camp, I saw that I was playing a lot, he talked to me often and it was true," he confirmed, emphasizing the growing confidence.
The midfielder started the season accumulating minutes and starts. "I accumulated a lot of minutes and many starts. And now I'm back with the national team as well," he said, describing the start as a “great start to the season.” He added that having coaches who believe in you is what a player really wants.
The loan experience at Atalanta
Before Milan, Musah spent a year on loan at Atalanta, where he found "a great environment in midfield." He learned to position himself, to play in a two‑man midfield and to be constantly available, refining details such as positioning and body posture.
This experience allowed him to understand in which areas of the pitch it is appropriate to take risks, improving his ability to read the game.
Thanks to his development with Milan, Musah was recalled to the USA national team. Coach Mauricio Pochettino called him up for the United States' fixtures, confirming that his club performances earned him the return.
Musah emphasized that AMORIM's confidence was decisive: "It was a great start to the season: having coaches who believe in you again is what you really want as a player, coaches who give you confidence and let you play."
The midfielder also revealed that he avoided following the World Cup, spending his free time in Ghana and Zanzibar. "Literally, I wasn't on social media, I didn't use the phone much. I was simply out with the locals in Ghana and Zanzibar enjoying the summer," he said, adding that in the last week of vacation he started training again to be ready for Milan's camp.
