Nations League – Klopp criticises draw streak and demands more effort
Jürgen Klopp stood on the sidelines of the Greece match at the RTL microphone and commented on the second draw in the fourth Nations League game of his tenure. Germany did not get past a 0-0 in Athens, and the national coach used the two‑day break to share his impressions.
XXL Casting and 44 National Players
Klopp described his XXL casting for the German football national team as an overall success. In the two weeks he had “seen a lot of national players”, nominated a total of 44 players, and each had demonstrated his merit.
“We have seen a lot of national players in the two weeks. Each has shown himself, all had their justification,” Klopp said on Sunday evening after the 0-0 in the Nations League rematch in Greece in an RTL interview.
Outlook on the November fixtures
The coach emphasized that he will not call up as many players in November, because the door remains open for everyone, but with a heavily compressed squad. “But the door is open for everyone. Wide open,” he added.
For the upcoming matches in Serbia (Belgrade, 13 Nov.) and against the Netherlands (Berlin, 16 Nov.) Klopp is planning a smaller team that should further develop the existing signs.
