Niko Kovač goes winless in the classic against Bayern Munich

Niko Kovač, the current coach of Borussia Dortmund, remains completely unsuccessful in the Bayern Munich Der Klassiker: In the Bundesliga, across eleven matches, he has yet to secure a win. Ironically, he defeated Bayern in 2017/18 as Eintracht Frankfurt’s coach in the DFB Cup final.
Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel of Borussia Dortmund has never won against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. His record comprises eight defeats and two draws, with the losses coming against Augsburg, VfB Stuttgart and Dortmund itself. In total, he has conceded 19 goals in the top‑flight classic.
Supercup result of the current season
In this season’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup match, the two teams met for the first time. Bayern Munich won 2‑1 thanks to goals from Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise, while Fabio Silva scored the only goal for Borussia Dortmund.
Seven players have scored twice as substitutes in Der Klassiker: Márcio Amoroso, Erdal Keser (both for Borussia Dortmund), Alexander Zickler, Giovane Élber, Thomas Müller, Dieter Hoeneß and Claudio Pizarro (all for Bayern Munich). No player has recorded more than two goals from the bench.
Niko Kovač remains without a win as Borussia Dortmund’s coach in the Bundesliga against Bayern Munich. In eleven meetings he has recorded neither a win nor a draw, further weighing on his record against the record champions.
