Osimhen out injured, Galatasaray lose former Napoli striker

Victor Osimhen, former Napoli striker, was injured during Galatasaray's 3‑2 victory over Basaksehir, played on Friday, with a tear to the adductor muscle of his right leg. The Turkish club announced that the striker will be out for at least three weeks, missing the Champions League debut against Sporting CP.

Victory over Basaksehir and Osimhen injury

Galatasaray beat Basaksehir 3‑2, match played on Friday. Victor Osimhen, scorer of the first Galatasaray goal, suffered a muscle problem in the adductor of his right leg, which will cost him at least three weeks out.

Osimhen's absence means the striker will miss the Champions League debut against Sporting CP, scheduled for next week.

The Turkish club's statement, reported by Stampa A− A+ Il Galatasaray for Osimhen injury and by Ultime norizie calcio, indicates that Victor Osimhen and Mario Lemina underwent MRI scans at Acibadem Hospital.

A moderate‑severe grade injury, with bleeding and strain, was diagnosed in the adductor muscle of Osimhen's right leg. Lemina also has a similar condition; treatment is currently underway.

Recovery times for both players are estimated at around three weeks, although Galatasaray has not yet officially confirmed the duration.

This double absence creates a “tile in attack” for the Turkish club, which will have to reorganise the attacking department before the next European commitment.

The contrast between the victory over Basaksehir and the loss of two starters highlights the challenges Galatasaray will face in the decisive phase of the Champions League.
