Panzo chooses Greece, Standard signs young Cameroonian forward
Jonathan Panzo chooses a new adventure in Greece, while Standard simultaneously secures a young striker for the long term. The 25‑year‑old English centre‑back moves to Levadiakos, after he played eleven matches on loan for Standard in the red‑white shirt in January this year.
In the 2019‑2020 season, Panzo played on loan at Cercle Brugge, then closely linked to his parent club AS Monaco. For the green‑black side he made eighteen appearances and provided one assist.
After his return to Monaco, he moved permanently to Dijon in August 2020. One and a half years later he returned to England, where Nottingham Forest signed him in January 2022 and then loaned him to Coventry City and Cardiff City.
In January 2024 Panzo returned to Belgium again, when Standard took him on loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season. In Liège he featured eleven times and scored one goal.
Levadiakos hopes for international experience
Levadiakos presented the 25‑year‑old Londoner as a player with experience at various levels. The club highlights his international background; Panzo wore the national shirt in all English youth categories and amassed 49 caps. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €1.5 million.
Standard bets on young Cameroonian striker
Standard has clear confidence in Bernard Nguene and has opened and extended the contract of the 20‑year‑old Cameroonian until June 2029. The agreement includes an option for an additional season, binding the Liège club to an emerging talent for the coming years.
At the same time, former Standard goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart finally gets his desired exit at Lille. He leaves on a free transfer to Le Havre, where he joins the fight for a starting spot in France as a medical joker.
