Premier League hunt: Liverpool seek replacement for Mac Allister

Liverpool must temporarily solve the midfield role at the top of the Premier League'. The Reds are nine points behind league leaders Manchester City and are looking for a replacement for Alexis Mac Allister, who is linked with Real Madrid.

Transfer plans of Andoni Iraola

Andoni Iraola and his staff want to go onto the transfer market to remain competitive in the coming seasons. They are focusing their attention on a newcomer from a direct rival, as the club is already preparing for the summer of 2027 at Anfield.

Johan Manzambi as a possible candidate

According to The Sun, Liverpool have set their sights on the Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi, who this summer moved from SC Freiburg to Aston Villa for 60 million euros. Manzambi has already made an impression in the Premier League, with goals against Tottenham and Brentford, an assist against the Spurs, and a goal plus a decisive pass in the Champions League win over Fenerbahçe, after which he was named Man of the Match.

The Swiss international has scored seven goals in 20 internationals and added three goals plus two assists at the World Cup, highlighting his eye for goal as a midfielder. Aston Villa have secured him until mid-2031 and can therefore demand a monster sum.

The Reds have suffered only one defeat in their first six Premier League matches, but have secured only two wins, which the club says must improve. Tracking Manzambi this season is seen as a possible step towards a transfer in the summer of 2027.
