PSV eyes Julian Brandt as Saibari replacement in quiet market
PSV Eindhoven are reportedly scouting 30‑year‑old Julian Brandt as a possible replacement for Ismael Saibari, despite the club saying no official negotiations have begun, while the German midfielder remains a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund this week according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Ajax were linked with Brandt last week, and the Dutch club confirmed they had been informed of his availability. PSV also have the German on their radar according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.
"Concreet is er nu volgens officiële bronnen helemaal niets, maar ingewijden fluisteren dat PSV mogelijk toch bij de Duitser aan kan kloppen", the Eindhovens Dagblad reported. The club has not released any official comment on the matter.
"Brandt verdiende de afgelopen jaren naar PSV-begrippen een vermogen in Dortmund. Daarnaast zijn er tig clubs die naar hem informeren." The report adds that several Premier League clubs are also monitoring the midfielder.
Brandt is a 48‑time German international and has been with Borussia Dortmund since the summer of 2019, when the club paid €25 million to release him from Bayer Leverkusen. He remains a free agent after his recent departure.
During his Dortmund spell he accumulated 307 matches, and he has never played for a club outside Germany. The midfielder was once hailed as a super‑talent in his early career.
The coming weeks should reveal whether PSV will launch a bid or if another suitor secures the free‑agent midfielder. Brandt's next move will be decided amid interest from multiple clubs.
