Relief follows Ákos Buzsáky after missing person report ends

After more than a week of uncertainty, former Hungarian international Ákos Buzsáky has resurfaced, turning a period of alarm into a wave of relief for fans and his former club alike.

Disappearance and public concern

Authorities were alerted when Buzsáky vanished sometime after 18 August, prompting his “concerned mother” to contact the police amid a misunderstanding. The English second‑tier side Queens Park Rangers posted on X on Wednesday, expressing hope and prayer for his safe return.

On Friday, the 44‑year‑old used his Facebook page to explain the episode, writing that recent months had brought “significant changes” that “put me to the test.” He described feeling overwhelmed, saying the “waves have crashed over my head” and that he felt compelled to step away from everyday life.

Buzsáky thanked supporters for the “great concern” shown after his disappearance and confirmed that, once he learned of the search, he immediately informed the authorities.

Career background and achievements

During his playing days, Buzsáky wore the Queens Park Rangers shirt from 2007 to 2012, initially arriving on loan from Plymouth Argyle before signing permanently in January 2008. He helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and departed a year later for Portsmouth.

Before his English stint, he was under contract with FC Porto, where he won the Portuguese league title and the UEFA Cup in 2003. Internationally, the midfielder earned 20 caps for Hungary between 2005 and 2012.
