Richarlison stays in North London after failed Brazilian transfer

The 29-year-old Brazilian Richarlison remains without a new club: the planned transfer to Vasco da Gama in Brazil has been scrapped, meaning he stays in North London at Tottenham Hotspur, despite his desire to leave at all costs, and is not registered for the Premier League season.

Failed transfer to Vasco

Richarlison, the 29-year-old Brazilian, was the main character in a true transfer saga at Tottenham Hotspur. He was also sent back to the development squad, meaning he now continues training in North London.

Before the summer, Everton and Trabzonspor were serious options, but both negotiations stalled and the deals fell through. He does not want to return to Everton, but none of the proposals reached an agreement.

Vasco da Gama seemed the only way out, but the transfer deadline in Brazil has now passed, meaning the transfer to the Brazilian club can no longer take place. At Tottenham, the player was subsequently not registered for the Premier League season.

Contract and registration dilemma

According to a report, Tottenham reached an agreement of around €20m with Vasco da Gama, but Richarlison refused the proposed terms. He wanted a short‑term contract until January, while the Brazilian club demanded a minimum duration of eighteen months.

The situation escalated when Tottenham decided not to register the player for the Premier League season, after which he was sent back to the U21. Moreover, the club has already loaned out six players, meaning the FIFA‑limit for additional loan deals outside England has been reached.

Richarlison and his representatives are now exploring legal avenues to terminate the contract, but a termination does not guarantee that he can sign everywhere as a free agent. It is reported that a Saudi Pro League club is showing interest in a possible winter move.

Despite the failed Brazilian transfer, other clubs have shown interest, but no move was completed in time before the close of the European transfer window. It remains unclear whether Richarlison will find a new club in January or stay at the Spurs for longer.
