Rodrygo returns to training with the ball after six months out injured
Rodrygo, the Brazilian forward of Real Madrid, touched the ball again in the Valdebebas training sessions, marking his first activity with the ball after more than six months out due to injury. The step, reported by Periodista Deportivo, fuels optimism about his expected return in 2027.
The Brazilian is making gradual progress at the Ciudad Deportiva, fine‑tuning his recovery and regaining the feel of contact with the ball. The aim is not to rush the timetable, but to gradually restore his confidence so he can become relevant again at Madrid.
Injury and surgery details
Rodrygo suffered on March 2 a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the outer meniscus of his right knee in the match against Getafe. He underwent surgery on March 10 and, since then, has followed a long and progressive process that keeps him out of José Mourinho’s plans.
In the current phase, the winger can already perform ball exercises and continues to work daily alongside the specialists in charge of his rehabilitation. The priority is to gradually regain the sensations without trying to shorten the established timelines.
Eric, Rodrygo’s father, is very optimistic and said: “He will return at an important moment and it will be important.” He also hinted that the striker’s comeback could happen before February 2027.
Challenge for a place in the eleven
The 25‑year‑old will have to give his best performance to compete for a spot alongside Vinicius, Kylian Mbappé, Diomande, Brahim and Endrick. The intense competition in Real Madrid’s attack demands that Rodrygo regain his level quickly.
On Monday, Real Madrid trained again at Valdebebas and announced that Éder Militao was already able to jog with the group, progressing in his recovery. José Mourinho counted on the availability of Raúl Asencio, Álvaro Carreras, Thibaut Courtois, Andrey Lunin, Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni, while Konaté and Mbappé returned after their issues with France.
