Sampdoria's hunt for a physical striker: Lauritsen in the crosshairs

🇮🇹

Serie B side Sampdoria is targeting free‑agent Norwegian striker Tobias Lauritsen to plug a void in their attack, 52‑goal scorer, who ended his contract with Sparta Rotterdam, could provide the physical presence the Italian club seeks.

Sampdoria, competing in Serie B, have identified the need for a physically strong forward with proven experience. The club’s technical staff view Lauritsen as a suitable reinforcement to revitalise their front line.

Lauritsen delivered double‑digit tallies in four consecutive Eredivisie seasons, netting twelve, twelve, ten and twelve goals respectively. His consistency underscores the experience Sampdoria value.

The Norwegian arrived at Sparta Rotterdam in 2022 from Odds BK and amassed 144 official appearances for the Kasteelheren. Across those matches he recorded 52 goals and contributed 22 assists.

Lauritsen is currently without a contract after his deal with Sparta Rotterdam expired, making him available on a free transfer. This status adds urgency to Sampdoria’s pursuit.

However, the signing will not be straightforward. Celtic, Leicester City, Feyenoord and PSV have also been linked to the striker, intensifying the competition for his signature.

Sampdoria must now navigate rival interest and negotiate terms that satisfy both player and club. Securing Lauritsen could complete their offensive overhaul ahead of the upcoming season.
