Sané's season at Galatasaray: cold wind blows, a winter switch looms

Leroy Sané, the 30‑year‑old right‑winger of Galatasaray Istanbul, has already played seven league matches since his arrival in the summer of 2025, three of them from the start, without scoring a single goal. The initial enthusiasm of the fans has since turned into a cold wind, while the new season has started even worse for the player.

When he arrived in the summer of 2025, Leroy Sané was still greeted frantically by the fans of Galatasaray Istanbul, but the wind has since changed. The right‑winger's first year in the Süper Lig already left much to be desired, so the new season has started even worse for him.

First season without a goal

In the still‑young campaign, Sané featured in seven league matches, three of them from the start, without registering a single scoring point. The 30‑year‑old winger, who is among the squad's top earners, also stands out for his negative body language.

The Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik reports that Galatasaray's officials are planning a crisis talk with Sané to make clear that he must improve his form as quickly as possible. If no noticeable performance boost is evident by winter, the paths could part prematurely.

Contract until 2028, but a winter move possible

Sané is contractually tied to Istanbul until 2028, but a possible move for the upcoming winter is already being regarded as realistic. This is linked to the growing interest from the desert.

According to the Turkish newspaper Takvim, the Saudi Arabian Al‑Qadsiah is monitoring the former Bayern star and could already present an offer for Galatasaray in January. The potential deal, however, remains wishful thinking as long as Sané does not improve his performances.

Fans and officials have little patience left, but they still give the player the chance to redeem himself with better performances in Turkey. Another dip in form could further increase the pressure on the 30‑year‑old.
