São Paulo sign 20‑year‑old Pedro Lima loan, Wolves pay 60% salary

São Paulo announced on Friday night that they have secured the services of 20‑year‑old right‑back Pedro Lima on a season‑long loan from Wolverhampton of Inglaterra, with the contract running until 30 June 2027. The deal was finalised just before the Brazilian transfer window closed at 19:00 Brasília time.

Loan terms and salary split

The agreement runs until the end of the season, officially until 30 June 2027, with an option to extend the loan to May 2027. São Paulo will not incur any transfer fee, while Wolverhampton will shoulder 60 % of the player’s wages.

“It is an honour to wear this historic shirt. I am very eager to meet the Tricolour supporters, and together we can write great chapters,” Lima said in the club’s official interview.

At Wolverhampton, Lima struggled for minutes after the arrival of experienced English right‑back Trippier, limiting him to just two appearances this season. The lack of playing time prompted the move to Brazil.

Before joining Wolves, the youngster spent a season on loan at Porto B in Portugal, where he featured in nine matches and recorded one assist. That spell gave him his first taste of European football.

Since 2025, he has featured in either 18 or 19 games for Wolverhampton, according to the two reports. Across his career he has amassed 53 matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

São Paulo acted swiftly, completing the paperwork before the transfer window shut at 19:00 Brasília time on Friday. The club’s efficient handling ensured the loan was registered in the FIFA Transfer Matching System.

The signing comes after an injury to Aurélio Buta left the Tricolor short of options at right‑back, with Lucas Ramon currently holding the starting spot. Pedro Lima becomes the sixth addition this window, joining Domingos Duarte, Iago, Newton and Victor Sá.

Os Tricolores hope the addition strengthens the defence. São Paulo’s next matches include a league clash with Palmeiras on 12 September and a Copa Sudamericana quarter‑final second leg against Boca Juniors on 15 September, both of which will test the new recruit’s integration.
