Shooting near England's World Cup camp injures nine

Nine people were hospitalized after a shooting near England’s World Cup training camp in Kansas City, Missouri, early Saturday.

The injuries were reported as non‑life‑threatening.

Police responded to shots heard at 4 a.m. on the 7900 block of Troost Avenue.

Three adult females were among those taken to hospital.

No suspects have been taken into custody.

England’s base camp is protected by three rings of security, including concrete barriers and visual screens.

A no‑fly zone and armed police with private guards also surround the complex.

The camp lies about a ten‑minute drive from Swope Soccer Village and twenty minutes from the Inn at Meadowbrook hotel.

England’s staff and players are currently in Florida after a 1‑0 friendly win over New Zealand, with Harry Kane scoring the only goal with a header before halftime.

The match took place in Florida.

England national team will travel to Kansas City on Saturday, June 13, to continue its World Cup preparations.

The squad will be based at Swope Soccer Village for the tournament.

Swope Soccer Village is the home of Sporting KC’s reserve team and academy.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will use Sporting KC’s main training facility.

Argentina and the Netherlands are also based in Kansas City.

The Dutch will train at the base of NWSL side Kansas City Current.

Kansas City Current competes in the National Women’s Soccer League.
