Arne Slot named Ajax manager after Liverpool exit
Arne Slot has been appointed as the new head coach of Ajax. The announcement follows the departure of Hansi Flick from the Amsterdam-based club. Slot leaves Feyenoord after three seasons in Rotterdam.
Club director Sven Mislintat confirmed the appointment in a press conference. Slot signed a contract until June 30, 2027. His first training session is scheduled for July 1.
Slot previously led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season. At Ajax, he replaces interim manager John Heitinga, who took charge after Flick's exit.
The Dutch manager won 73 of 108 matches with Feyenoord. His contract with Feyenoord was set to expire at the end of this month.
Ajax also announced the departure of sporting director Sven Mislintat. His role will be temporarily filled by club legend Edwin van der Sar.
